MAP

Northside Community Recreation Centre

The Northside Community Recreation Centre still bears some resemblance to its former incarnation as the Lund Elementary School.

The largest classroom is now available as a large multi-purpose room, while the smaller classroom has been divided into an office, library and dedicated preschool room.

A hallway separates the licensed kitchen from these rooms.  A small room is adjacent to the kitchen, separated by a serving counter with privacy blind and a dutch-style door. The building has two washrooms with two stalls each.

There is a playground with equipment suitable for young children, as well as a playing field and a covered outside area.

Proposed New Building

The qRD applied for a $4.2 million Canada Infrastructure Grant in early 2021, a community improvement under the Rural & Northern Community Infrastructure Grant. The grant was approved!

The only upgrades to the existing building are an upgrade and slight expansion to the kitchen to meet commercial kitchen standards and a linking entryway to the new building. Possibly a two year timeframe until completed. The finished multi-purpose space is hoped to replace the much loved and missed Lund Hall, serving all residents of qRD Area A, the Northside Recreation area, north of Powell RIver and Wildwood.

In respect and gratitude, we recognize that we live on the homelands of the Coast Salish People. Before being renamed by European settlers, the Lund harbour was known as Kla-Ah-Men by the Tla'amin, Homalco & Klahoose people who have inhabited these lands since time immemorial.
